Mr Hemal Mehta is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon available for private consultations at Hospital of St. John and St. Elizabeth in St. John's Wood, Royal Free London Private Patients in Hampstead and Spire Hospital in Bushey.

He specialises in medical retina conditions (e.g. age-related macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease) and cataract surgery. Mr Hemal Mehta also participates in the general ophthalmology on call rota at a busy London teaching hospital managing a wide range of ocular pathology, including allergic eye disease, blepharitis, chalazia and dry eyes.

The clinical research during his fellowships at Sydney Eye Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital is the basis of his MD thesis on ‘Novel endpoints in diabetic retinopathy clinical trials' registered at Cambridge University. He is the Lead for Ophthalmic Clinical Trials Research at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust where he is actively involved in evaluating emerging therapies.
