Puneet is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Clinical Director at the Upper Limb Unit at Wrightington Hospital, a specialist referral centre for Orthopaedics problems. Since he took up the Consultant position in 2011, his work has remained focused on disorders of the shoulder. He has substantial expertise in looking after patients with shoulder problems. His patient profile ranges from elite athletes to weekend warriors and from common shoulder problems to complex revision reconstructions referred from other surgeons. Since taking up medicine in 1991, Puneet has gained further experience from working across seven countries in three continents, and in over twenty hospitals. He works with specialist Musculoskeletal radiologists and has access to the most up-to-date scanning facilities such as 3T MRI scanners, Upright Open MR scans for claustrophobic patients, CT scans, and Nuclear scanning.
Puneet holds an Honorary Clinical Professor position at Edge Hill University and teaches at various regional, national, and international courses. His main area of research interest is the application of 3D printing in surgical care, movement assessment of the shoulder, and measuring surgical outcomes. He has won various academic prizes and distinctions during his career. He also routinely contributes scientific work to national and international conferences, books, and scientific journals. He is an Associate Editor for two Orthopaedic journals.
It is well-recognised that the patients remain the best teachers for doctors, and he remains grateful to them. The active contribution from the past patients towards the routine audit of outcomes, their gracious input towards research, and their valuable feedback allow him to deliver better care to current and future patients.

I should have written this weeks ago, but I've been trying to think what to write about Professor Monga. So, I'll keep it simple and to the point'sh. If you're unfortunate enough to be in agony as I was with a shoulder injury wondering if your life will ever be the same as before the injury with no pain and being able to have a normal day whatever that entails, mine was sport lots of sport, yes you will as professor Monga isn't just the best surgeon for shoulder injuries you will find he understands people's lives and how important returning to your life is. He takes the time to talk to you and explain everything anticipating the questions you will have, double checking your health for a general anaesthetic and he listens to you as well. I'd managed to destroy both shoulders badly and have had to have them both operated on so Professor Monga had his work cut out with me. I'm sorry you are having to have surgery, but I will assure you Professor Monga is the best surgeon there is and you are definitely in the best hands with Professor Monga. And yes I'm back to most of my sports now, cycling, rowing building up the weights again. Many thanks to Professor Monga.

Puneet took great care to explain what was involved in my surgery, the time it would take to fully recover and the physio I would need. This made me feel at ease with the whole process. I would highly recommend him.

Two years ago I suffered severe damage to the tendons of my shoulder. This coincided with the beginning of the Covid pandemic. Consequently, my operation was carried out almost 2 years after the injury. My operation was cancelled five times and Covid was responsible for the majority of these cancellations. I am writing to you as I want to thank Mr Monga for all his efforts over the last two years. He is a true professional. During our meetings I always felt valued and fully informed of decisions and consequences. He showed empathy, sympathy and an understanding of my needs and concerns. I feel privileged that I was allocated to Mr Monga as my Orthopaedic Consultant. Words can never express how grateful I am for everything he has done for me, so I will be able to continue to enjoy an active lifestyle. After the operation Mr Monga and one of his team came to see me to check on my recovery from the operation. I would like to thank Mr Monga, for all his efforts, before, during and after my operation. I feel confident that I will be able to lead an active lifestyle again.

A very professional and competent surgeon who listens to the patient and explains the procedure, complications and expectations. A clear plan of post op care was given. I am extremely pleased with my shoulder replacement. I am 3 weeks post op and pain free, some discomfort but nothing like I experienced pre op. I can happily recommend Mr Monga.

Mr Puneet Monga is an outstanding individual. His style gives one every assurance that he has everything under control as indeed he has. Mr Monga performed a new shoulder operation for me. It is an operation he is very proficient at performing and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him to anyone. I had suffered a great deal prior to my op and whilst it is a heavy duty op, Mr Monga did an excellent job and now I am pain free and living my life to the full.
